Welcome to Anya Ballerina's Adventures!
life as a ballerina in london
Hi everyone! I'm so thrilled to be able to finally launch my website and blog! Something that I've been wanting to do for a very long time, but never had the time to do. But! As I finally graduated this year, I find myself with a lot of spare time (when I'm not dancing), so I thought, I might as well get this started!
For those of you who are wondering, who on earth is Anya (aka AnyaBallerina, which I use for just about everything... IG, TikTok, you name it!), let me tell you a bit about myself!
I am a 19 year old, fresh graduate of the English National Ballet School (ENBS), who is based in London. I also happen to be the first from the Philippines to have studied and graduated from ENBS ever. Cool, right? I thought so too. I hope that doesn't come accross as arrogant, but it's honestly something I never imagined possible for me, and even after graduating, I still can't believe it! I mean, if someone told me 5 years ago, "You're going to move to London to study at the English National Ballet School," I would've said, "No way on earth." But here I am today.
If you're wondering what I am doing now, since I told you that I graduated this year, I am doing further studies with ENBS in their Professional Graduate Program as I am currently recovering from a stress fracture in my left shin as I write this. Let me tell you now, stress fractures suck. I've been stuck with this injury for nearly a year (will go more into detail another time), but now, I've made the decision to just focus 100% on my recovery and take things slow. But on the plus side, this gives me plenty of time to explore London more, because even after living here for 2 years, there's heaps of things I haven't seen yet!
I've blabbered on quite a bit now, so let me just tell you some short, quick things about me and then I'm done. Promise!
Aside from dancing, I also like reading, eating, cooking, baking, trying new restaurants, coffee dates with friends, spending hours in a bookshop, walking, exploring, getting lost, watching ballets/musicals, traveling, shopping, painting, vlogging, and spending way too much money on food and watching performances. So that's me basically in a nutshell!
Ok, ok, I'm almost finished! Just one last thing to share. The real reason behind me starting this blog is because I want to help others that are going through a similar journey to mine. Being from a country where ballet is not as big or appreciated as in other countries meant that moving abroad to study ballet is not a commonly taken path. So when I started thinking that I wanted to train abroad, there wasn't anyone I could look to or ask for help from in terms of applying and getting into a school abroad. My parents and I were clueless, and really, I can only attribute where I am today to God. He graciously opened up every single door that lead to where I am today, and He gave me hope where I felt like there was none. Now, using my experiences and journey, I want to help other aspiring dancers, wherever you are reading this from.
This is all I will say for now, but don't worry. I have lots of exciting and unbelievable stories to share and I promise I will share them all! Stay tuned and keep an eye out for my first "official" blog post and I hope to see you all again here soon! Bye!!!💕
